Ageing Potential

Tasting Notes

Palate

Our 2017 Bessies Block Pinot Noir has vibrant aromatics of dark cherry and plums with toasty oak spice and dried herbs following through to the palate. Clove, bramble and cherries enhanced by a nutty savoury element. Bottle age has softened the tannin, giving it a beautiful texture and weight. Rich and mouthfilling, beautifully structures with a long finish.

Reviews

95 points / Outstanding / Cam Douglas MS

Complex and developing bouquet with a medley of red fruit scents from preserved cherry and dried raspberry to red apple then a fine savoury and mineral core. Complex with a pure pinosity core. Delicious and complex on the palate with flavours that mirror the bouquet, a vibrant and textured mouthfeel with tannins and acidity driving the foundation and carrying the fruit flavours that refelct the bouquet. Lengthy finish and ready for drinking from 2022 through 2029.

High-flying pinot / 94 points / 4 stars / The Real Review - Bob Campbell MW

It's a limited edition, flagship pinot noir with appealing power and purity. Plum, dark cherry, dried herb and subtle spice flavours. A moderately complex and beautifully structured wine with good cellaring potential. Ageing: now to 2028.

95 points / 5 stars / Wine Orbit - Sam Kim

Wonderfully complex and fragrant, the bouquet shows sweet plum, wild thyme, almond and warm mushroom aromas, followed by a gorgeously elegant palate that's concentrated and persistent. It's finely textured and multi-layered with a splendidly long sophisticated finish. At it's best: now to 2029
